The Nature of Leadership

“A leader is the relentless architect
of the possibility that resides in each of us.”
~ Roz & Ben Zander, The Art of Possibility

KalalauOur world is complex, uncertain, chaotic, often paradoxical. We’re deluged with messages about how life is supposed to be. We learn that if we’d just go along, we’ll somehow arrive at a destination.

After years of trying, we may awaken to disillusionment: compromised integrity, failed promises, unfulfilled dreams, even the futility of our pursuit. Society gave us a map to a place that doesn’t exist; no wonder we feel lost. We can’t find our way home because we traded our own internal map and compass for a promise that turned out to be empty.

When you look more deeply, you realize society colludes with our dilemma, by valuing:
     • answers over questions
     • knowledge over experience
     • expedience over completeness
     • productivity over joy and fulfillment

It is here that you may start asking new questions. Whether you know it consciously or not, you yearn to reclaim your lost sense of self, and to restore the inner belief you once had in:
     • personal inquiry and reflection
     • trusting your own inner messages
     • taking personal responsibility for creating a life you love

The Journey to Leadership is one of courage and commitment, for society’s messages still speak loudly, asking you to be someone you’re not. Yet it is also a journey of personal power, to become the conscious creator of your own life, to live your own greatest potential... to live your life instead of someone else’s, and to reclaim that lost part of self that wants so much to be heard. It’s about shifting your perspective on life from one that’s about the external world to one that honors the lost truth of the inner self … from one that promises a destination to one that invites a journey, a journey of possibility.

I offer personalized guidance for life journeys ... journeys we generally don’t manage very well alone. Choose a path that holds meaning for you:
